Ukraine-Russia war latest: Zaporizhzhia under attack on eve of war anniversary as Zelensky warns Putin started WWIII

At least one person was killed in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia in a Russian drone strike, the regional military chief said, as Russia continued to attack its smaller neighbour on the eve of the anniversary of the four-year war.

The strike targeted industrial facilities, killing a 33-year-old man and wounding a 45-year-old, said Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional administration.

Nearly all parts of Ukraine faced incoming Russian missiles and drones overnight. Two people were confirmed killed in Ukraine’s southern Odesa region in a Russian drone attack.

This comes as Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Vladimir Putin has started the Third World War and must be stopped in comments made ahead of the four-year anniversary of the conflict.

The Ukrainian leader insisted Putin’s invasion had started a wider conflict impacting the global order and urged for intense military and economic pressure against Russia. “I believe that Putin has already started it [WW3],” he told the BBC.

“The question is how much territory he will be able to seize and how to stop him… Russia wants to impose on the world a different way of life and change the lives people have chosen for themselves.”
